Uncle Remus [Uncle Remus]
the character who tells the stories in several books by Joel Chandler Harris (1848–1908). Uncle Remus is a former slave whose stories include Brer (Brother) Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear. Among the books are Uncle Remus, His Songs and His Sayings (1881), The Tar Baby (1904) and Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit (1906). He was also the main character in the Walt ↑Disney film Song of the South (1946).
